Murrumbateman Landcare and the Murrumbateman Community Association have joined together to call on Yass Valley Council to move forward with the development of a Tree Management Strategy.
We are urging Council to protect heritage and habitat trees, set a canopy goal for new developments, consider the benefit of nature-based tourism and better align growth with the preservation of old growth trees that provide essential habitat for endangered species like superb parrots and Gang Gang cockatoos.
A strong Tree Management Strategy is needed sooner rather than later to help balance new development with environmental protection, biodiversity, eco-tourism, and healthier, greener communities across Yass Valley.
