Our region provides an amazing range of events and activities for visitors and the community. From markets and wine festivals to farm experiences, alpaca products, chocolates, cheese, honey, mushrooms, boutique liquors, family-friendly fairs, musicial concerts and cultural celebrations. Explore the details of upcoming events and make the most of your time in our charming town.  MCA organises the events described below. We obtain approvals and relevant insurances for these events.   

Murrumbateman Field Days

17-18 October 2026 –  Murrumbateman Field Days is the annual two day premier agricultural and family event for Murrumbateman and Yass Valley offering family-friendly country experiences for the whole family. Some 15,000 people and 300 exhibitors attend. 

Exhibitors from around Australia showcase the best in the agricultural and landscaping services, innovation, equipment and machinery, livestock, traditional crafts, local produce, and attractions such as the snake man, petting zoo, kids rides, camel rides, pig races, gumboot throwing, performances by musicians and entertainment artists. 

The event is has major positive economic impact into the southern tablelands region of NSW

  • generates some $8 million in economic activity, accommodation, food and agri-business sectors
  • $1.1 million directly spent on-site and in local towns
  • exhibitor surveys show $47 million in ongoing sales are generated.

The event is run by the Murrumbateman Community Association through a dedicated team of 3 part-time staff.  Over 100 community volunteers help the preparations, and local groups provide many food, sanitary, logistical and safety services to directly benefit.  Any profits go back into the community to provide facilities and activities.

Murrumbateman Village Markets

Held on 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month, 9am to 1pm at the Village Green located within the Murrumbateman Recreation Ground. Experience a friendly market specialising in fresh foods and handicrafts with a local flavour. The Village Green shaded by historic oak trees is perfect for a relaxing time browsing vibrant stalls, sampling produce, local crafts, supporting and chatting with community groups. Kids enjoy a free jumping castle. Yass Valley Mobile Library provides art/craft activities and locals can borrow library resources. 

Local community groups fundraise through operating BBQ/refreshment stall or receive a donation for setup/set down of facilities and signage.

Murrumbateman Menshed

Open Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings. Membership is open to males 18 years or older. Learn crafts, woodwork, assist  community, help maintain community mower and tractor, work on the track for the Kub Kar challenge, and have great chats. A full tool shed awaits.

Menshed is a sub-group of the Murrumbateman Community Association.

Murrumbateman History Group

Murrumbateman History Group formed in January 2014 aiming to locate, record and preserve local history. We are hoping a permanent site will become available soon where you can learn about local historical sites and and discover lots of interesting stories. 

Take a walk in the village to see historical buildings and sites. We are organising exciting events as part of regional Heritage Festival and smaller events to showcase Murrumbateman’s heritage and history

We are working with Yass & District Historical Society Inc to collectively ensure local history is preserved.

Murrumbateman Christmas Carols and Twilight Market

Murrumbateman Christmas Carols and combined Twilight Markets are held the first Saturday in December (4-8pm) on the Village Green at the Murrumbateman Recreation Ground. Hugely popular, attendances are growing every year. This is the Christmas event for local families. Performances by local choirs, Murrumbateman Public School, dancers and musicians.
