NEW LAND FOR RECREATION NEEDS TO BE OPENED UP BY COUNCIL

Recreational facilities are crucial for mental & physical health for all ages & abilities, & should be prioritised in any development planning for Murrumbateman. Yass Valley Council’s 2024 Open Space Strategy says Murrumbateman’s current supply & capacity of open space, parks & sport is below standards. The Strategy recommends opening part of Council-owned ‘Hawthorn’ for an urgent community need. Our Recreation Grounds are overcrowded with many different user groups/activities, & being pressured for more facilities not previously planned. Parts of ‘Hawthorn’ could be opened up NOW for more recreation purposes, if Council wishes
