We also have accumulated funds to self-insure our major annual event if for some reason it is cancelled, as commercial insurance cannot be obtained for this purpose.
Murrumbateman Field Days
The Murrumbateman Field Days is the annual 2-day premier agricultural and family event for Murrumbateman and the Yass Valley. The event offers family-friendly country experiences and is a fantastic weekend for the whole family. Each year, some 15,000 people and 300 exhibitors attend. 2026 dates are 17-18 October.
Exhibitors from around Australia showcase the best in the agricultural and landscaping services, innovation, equipment and machinery, livestock, traditional crafts, local produce, and attractions such as the snake man, a petting zoo, kids rides, camel rides, pig races, gumboot throwing, performances by regional musicians and entertainment artists.
There is a major positive economic impact into the southern tablelands region of NSW with all profits going back into the local community:
- generates some $7.4 million in economic activity in accommodation, food and agri-business sectors
- $1.1 million is directly spent during the event on-site and in local towns
- exhibitor surveys show that $47 million in sales are generated during the event.
The event is run by the Murrumbateman Community Association through a dedicated team of 3 part-time staff. We rely upon 100+ community volunteers who help prepare the site. Many food, sanitary, logistical and safety services are delivered by local community groups who directly benefit. Any profits go back into the community to deliver infrastructure, facilities and activities.
