School Status Report October 2015
The last school survey was issued and reported on to the community in October 2013. Since that time the working group has had various representation meetings with Yass Shire Council, The Education Department and various Officials including State and Federal MPs. We have also had significant media exposure with articles in Scoop, Yass Tribune and the Canberra Times as well as radio and TV exposure via Yass FM, ABC 666, 2CC and Prime TV.
In response to our survey, the working group received a “Needs Analysis Report” from the Department dated January 2014. This, and a subsequent, report totally ignore the survey results. A link to this report is enclosed in the attached “Justification Report” which the working group produced to counter claims and misleading information used in that document (see Justification Report).
After much lobbying of MPs and the Department, including a 1,000 signature petition presented to the NSW Parliament in August 2015, the Department released a further report entitled “Murrumbateman Analysis” (see Analysis Report). This report was forwarded by our local NSW MP for Goulburn (the Honourable Pru Goward) and has been analysed and a preliminary response made to the nominated Department representative. The working party whilst awaiting an answer to our latest queries has continued to pursue the option of a Community or independent school and will report on this to the community in due course.
