Constitution Working Group
The Constitution Working Group was formed in February 2013, to rewrite the association’s Constitution, which had become outdated.
One factor was our name change, from the Murrumbateman Agricultural Bureau and Progress Association (MABPA); to the more applicable Murrumbateman Progress Association (MPA).
A majority of members voted in support of the name change.
There were two imperatives that drove the need for a new Constitution, the name change and the requirement to comply with the NSW Department of Fair Trading’s Model Constitution.
A small team led by the Vice President Margaret Head, met regularly to collaborate and work their way through the details of the document. By November 2013, the final draft was taken to the membership and was accepted.
From there, the draft Constitution was forwarded to The Department of Fair Trading for review. MPA was informed in April 2014 that the new MPA Constitution had been approved on 12 April 2014 – without alteration.
MPA thanks the Constitution Working Group for their dedication and hard work bringing in bringing the MPA Constitution to finalisation.
