Yass Valley Council (YVC) is a local government area in the Southern Tablelands region of New South Wales, Australia. The area is located adjacent to the Hume and Barton Highways and the Main Southern railway line. The Shire includes Yass, Binalong, Bookham, Bowning, Gundaroo, Murrumbateman, Sutton, Wee Jasper and Brindabella. Yass Valley has a population of 13,135.
Council meet on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 4:00pm. The public and the press are welcome to attend these meetings as per the meeting calendar. At 4:00pm at each Council Meeting an Open Forum is held when the public is given an opportunity to address Council. Anyone wishing to address Council on agenda items should put their request in writing to the General Manager prior to the meeting. Yass Valley Council is composed of nine Councillors elected proportionally as one entire ward. All Councillors are elected for a fixed four-year term of office. The Mayor is elected by the Councillors at the first meeting of the Council. Day to day operations are managed by the General Manager and three Directors.
